WHAT IS YOGA?

The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root yuj meaning to bind, join, attach and yoke.

'When the senses are stilled, when the mind is at rest, when the intellect waves not - then say the wise, is reached the highest stage. This steady control of the senses and mind has been defined as Yoga. He who attains it is free from delusion.'

  • ASANA a posture (in Sanskrit a seated posture for meditation)

  • VINYASA a flow of poses with sequential breathing

  • PRANAYAMA breathing techniques

  • DRISHTI your gaze

  • SAVASANA resting and restorative pose

  • MEDITATION stilling the mind

  • REGULAR PRACTICE - become aware of a subtle change in your approach to life - for, through persistently toning and relaxing the body and stilling the mind, you begin to glimpse a state of inner peace which is your true nature.
